Memories of a beautiful Day in May
Experiencing Haydn Country

Does Landscape Shape Character?
Joseph Haydn
spent his early childhood

in close proximity
to this river

and the riparian forests
along it.

"In the beginning, God made Heaven and Earth;
and the Earth was without form and void;
and darkness was upon the face of the deep.

"In the spirit, God moved upon the face of the waters;
and God said: Let there be light. And there was light

    That is very similar to what I can see at the back of my garden... if you need more photos of the kind !

  2. the greenery seems to be slipping form the canvas like a wet painting, entrancing, beautiful Merisi!!!

    luv saz x

  3. Good question, whether landscape shapes character. I imagine it must. But it's interesting to consider

  4. So beautiful. *sigh*

  5. Marie-Noëlle,

    it is a magical place, indeed!

    Charles Gramlich,
    I find the question fascinating.

    Miss Sandra,
    yes, it is, incredibly beautiful.

  6. Oh what a beautiful setting. How I'd love to wander around there.

  7. Looks like a landscape from Wind in the Willows and we know that the landscape of Kenneth Grahame's childhood did shape his stories.

  8. I do believe the landscapes of our childhoods shape us by imprinting themselves on us deeply. And I only realised when listening to the Creation how perfectly your images seem to express the music!

  9. Hilary,
    you'd enjoy it, I am sure!

    I agree.

    Karen © PasGrand-Chose,
    as a child, Haydn's "The Creation" fascinated me, there was something that resonated, that harboured familiarity. Seeing these images, I understood why Haydn's music had touched me even back when I really did not understand anything at all yet.
