  6. I had a dream about Vienna, no doubt prompted by the inane American president referring to Australia as "Austria." Whenever I visit your site, I am struck by the beauty of your surroundings and I want to get on a plane!

  8. Lake Wolfgang - Austria certainly protects its countryside - or maybe it doesn't have to; Austrians just respect it.

Was this lake always called Lake W - or has the name something to do with WAM (as we call him here)?

  9. Both the lake and WAM were named after the German saint, St. Wolfgang.

  10. incurable insomniac, Thank you for your explanation.
    :))

We are very fond of WAM. And Beethoven. Oh, all of them.

You might be interested to know that the music critic of Time Out London refers to Beethoven (which he does often since B-hoven is played a lot in London) as 'The Bonn Bombshell'. It always causes me to smile.

  13. I am so sorry,
I erred when I named the lake on my original post. It is actually Mondsee, the "Moon Lake".
    I apologize for the confusion.
