Against The Dearth Of Monday Poems

In the morning of life,
when its cares are unknown,

And its pleasures
in all their new lustre begin,

When we live
in a bright-beaming world of our own,

And the light
that surrounds us is all from within;

Oh 'tis not, believe me,
in that happy time

We can love, as in hours of less transport we may; --
Of our smiles, of our hopes, 'tis the gay sunny prime,
But affection is truest when these fade away.

  1. You captured the morning of life beautifully.

  2. How do you manage to make all your pictures shine with a light from within, as though they all have souls?

  3. Butternut Squash,
    thank you! :-)

light is my passion, and I like to play with contre-jour lighting (back-lighting), for that "light from within" effect you noticed. I could play all day with it, alas, a few minutes while walking to the grocery store are fine too (oh well, there was a little zig-zagging and trespassing in other people's gardens involved).

  4. Btw, the colours were that intense this morning,
when the sun was still low. That brilliant light with its deep crisp shadows lasts only a few hours and is gone by mid-morning.

  5. The curve of the green roof (cupola?) is a poem.

  6. I'd like to sleep in that room under the green dome roof.

  7. Margaret,
    I agree!

    Charles Gramlich,
    me too! :-)
The house stands on top of a hillside.

  8. Bravissima! A lovely pairing of words and images. Just the right thing to soothe a soul on a Monday morning.

  9. why do I always read this Monday title as...
Against the Death of Monday Poems
    ? ? ?
I do not want Monday poems to die.
    Far from it!!!
Live on Monday Poems to see another day.
Anyway my brain is still captured by that pic of the strawberry petit four so no wonder I can't see straighT!

  10. Thanks for your visit, Merisi!
I was proud of your comment about my picture ;-))
I love photos (specially your pics which are always great and delicate) and sometimes I pretend to be a photographer! \o/
    Best wishes,

  11. As one who used to play at painting, I'm enchanted with all the shades of white you capture,

  12. As one who used to play at painting, I'm enchanted with all the shades of white you capture,

  13. I like how the morning sunlight filters through the single tulip shots. Quite lovely Merisi.
I hope you have a wonderful week.

  14. Simona,
    thank you! :-)

no worry, as long as there are Mondays, there will be a poem (unless I forget, which sorta happens on Mondays, doesn't it?).

  15. Aninha,
    thank you!
    There's no need to pretend,
    you are a born photographer!

    Vicki Lane,
white is the one color that fascinates me most!
I strive to learn more about capturing it in the right light.

  16. Just stopping by to say hello. I was in San Diego last week thought of someone you know when I drove right past the campus...

Your photos are always such a delight!

  17. Those pictures of the flowers are just sublime.

  18. Beautiful poetry, dear Merisi...and you make it come alive with your extraordinary photos! I think the white and pink tulips are my favorites! So lovely! What a happy Monday you make it! Love, Janine XO

  19. I come here for beaty, in words and images.
Some days you take my greay away Merisi. The lush greens today......

Thank you for taking the time to leave a note.
