Dusk
After a snowy day
in Vienna
The light was fading fast
when I found this little fellow
among the rosehips!
There was at least a dozen
of these birds
sitting among the branches
of a large rosebush.
They took flight when I approached.
Only one
trusted me.

It is so very comforting to know that even in the doldrums of winter, one is not far from nature's creatures. I am always rewarded with a sense of calmness upon watching our fair feathered friends.

So chilly and such a charming little bird.
ReplyDeleteGreat excitement in our neck of the woods yesterday afternoon.
A plane crash landed on the Hudson and all 155 people saved - in spite of some of them dipping into the chilly water.
Cold indeed!
Oh, how wonderful to find rose blooms among the snow! That could lift the mood of anyone!
ReplyDeleteAnd I love the trusty female Hausperling!

ReplyDeleteI especially like the snowy rose. there is something so poetic about it.
These are beautiful pictures! I love the contrast of the color of the rose against the snowy white background. But I feel sorry for that poor little bird! He must be freezing! :)
ReplyDeletei wish i could persuade my (94 year old) born-in-Wien mum to try her hand online. i think she would truly appreciate your words and photos.
