Viennese Memoranda

The Beautiful Blue Danube.

Ever wondered why Johann Strauß composed
a waltz instead of "Blue Danube Blues"?
Remember the lyrics?
"The mermaids from the riverbed,
whispering as you flow by
... " *
That's why!

There's nothing you can do that can't be done.
Nothing you can sing that can't be sung.

It's easy. **

whispering as you flow by,

  1. It all looks so lovely and romantic. I feel sure the Tourist Board should be paying you a monthly stipend for all this marvelous publicity!

  2. Your pictures always fascinate me. You have converted the simple steps into an artifact.

  3. Why is it that all of your photos make me feel as though I am ummm.... not resting enough, in my life?
    Not sitting in enough cafes?
Not seeing enough reflections in water?
Always one tiramisu short of my quota?

  4. I love the way you handled this series. Great photos and words too. I didn't know there were words to the Blue Danube. Silly me.

  5. Hehehe! Coffee... hehehe! Coffeeeee!
Love the updated version, and now I hear the original echoing in my brain.

I've had a lovely day, how about you?
Sung to the tune of "New York"
I love New York in June ...how about you?

  6. Love the Ando Café, looks very agreeable!

Thanks for your visiting and nice comment on my blog. I Google and see that the Banyan tree is a fig that starts its life as an epiphyte when its seeds germinate in the cracks and crevices on a host tree (or on structures like buildings and bridges). "Banyan" often refers specifically to the species Ficus benghalensis. Thanks for visiting and comment!

  7. Beautiful pictures Merisi
SOOOOOOOOOOOOO big I can dive in and pretend I'm in Vienna! :)

  8. Oooh, love the quotes and the flow by the Danube...what a truly whispering magical place...okay now the tunes are stuck in my head too! :)
    In a good way.
    All best, Jan

  9. One day I will get to Vienna to see all these wonderful things in person!

  10. I grew up listening to the Blue Danube waltz; it's the only thing my mother ever plays on the piano. And I never knew there were lyrics.

    Beautiful photographs, as always.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a note.
