Looking Up
April Weather in July

On Top of the Opera House
The Kinderoper
in a colorful tent

The Back of the Opera
View from the upper level
of the Albertina Palace

Turquoise Sky
framed by the Sacher and the opera house

Intent on capturing that narrow band
of turquoise sky, barely visible on the horizon,
I missed a step and literally flew through the air,
landing with one foot caught in a sewer grate.
I barely saved my camera, holding it up until the last moment,
and somehow I escaped serious injury too.
I may have to rethink the use of fixed lenses,
with a zoom lens I simply could have zoomed in
! ;-)

    Dear Merisi,

you risked your life for us!!! Be careful!!! ;-))

I love your wonderful blog. Thanks for sharing,

    Doris L.

  2. Do take care, Merisi! Glad you weren't seriously hurt!! I do love your marvelous captures of Vienna!!

  3. Thank you for bringing Vienna closer to my heart :) I also nominated you for the "Thanks for writing" Award on my blog! check it out here:

  4. Ouch! That sounds painful.
Only a passionate, professional photographer would have the reflexes to save her camera before herself - brava!

  5. Oh no! Glad you're OK.
    Neat shots though...

  6. Stepping backwards whilst engrossed looking through the lense is one of the hazards of our obsession - catching the moment forever.
Still having a twisted ankle for even a week or so is no fun.

  7. So glad you (and your camera) are okay. It sounds as if it could have been so much worse. Stunning pictures, as always!

  8. Beautiful photo of the turquoise sky with its combination of the blues and greys . . . hope body has recovered from the shock and the brain has learned a new method of doing things :) !

  9. Oh, no! Please be careful. After Corey's Chinese ankle adventures and wallpapering wrist adventures, I don't know if I could take another broken or a twisted joint befalling my favourite bloggers. Come to think of it, I might need a twisted joint to recover from a news like that. If I smoked, which I don't :-).

  10. I am totally loving this April Weather in July in Paris at the moment!
So glad I got away from the New York heat wave when I did.
    Yes PLEASE zoom it!

Thank you for taking the time to leave a note.
