A Moment in Time
Windowsill Still Life

Imperfect Beautiy
A smorgasbord of memories
on my windowsill:
The crystal bowl were
the cranberry sauce is served
on Thanksgiving, dried roses
from my daughter's birthday,
a white feather of a cattle egret
found in a cow pasture
near Marina di Alberese in the beautiful
Tuscan Maremma National Park.
In the bowl is yet another small vase,
filled with little shards of sea glass
from along the beaches of Calvert Cliffs,
Chesapeake Bay.

*

I was sitting at my desk
when I noticed how the morning sun
illuminated the red rose just so.
At second thought,
I took the black box away
and tried to capture the scene again.
Alas, the sun would not cooperate anymore
and without the sun rays kissing the rose
the whole scene turned into a pumpkin of sorts.

  4. Merisi, I know what you mean about the mysterious powers that lead us to pumpkins, but would want to tell you that your photos and words have escaped that spot on any clock.

  5. Very fine picture, it seems a watercolour.

Many thanks, Merisi, for your kind information about the blog address: I'll think it over and then decide.

  8. It's the play of light that brings pictures to life, I think.
