While the political landscape has changed
since then (and the prices have gone up),
it is still an interesting read.

Wow! wow...
ReplyDeleteThis looks like Versailles. it is gorgeous . There are so many places I want to visit ..
ReplyDeleteIt's an imposing structure. The formal gardens are quite lovely, also.
ReplyDeleteSoooo beautiful! I can only but sigh at so much beauty, simply lost for words...
ReplyDeleteI'm literally Hung(a)ry for more photos! Nice!
ReplyDeleteI loved the palace though the walls are chapped off, they truly reflect an aura.
ReplyDeleteSo many of these latest photos could be in England.
ReplyDeleteAdd yet another place to my list to visit. Love the yellow color.

Mélanie:
So many places, so little time, so true. ;-)
Kate:
The formal gardens are but a shadow of their former glory, sadly. Yet the spare beauty they display nowadays is still captivating.
Tracy:
The same here. :-)
Brian in Oxford:
Hung(a)ry, that is a nice word-creation. :-) I have one or two more photos (not too many because I was without my camera).
Cuckoo:
I must confess that I like the rear facade better than the front. I am wondering if that yellow is still the original color (I would dare call it "Schönbrunn Yellow"). I haven't had a chance yet to do some research.
Barbara:
You must have so many of these beauties in your country! :-)
hexe:
This shade of yellow is called "Schönbrunn yellow" (after the shade of yellow the court architect Johann Aman had the facade of Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna painted almost 200 years ago). I have to find out how and why they deciced to paint the front facade a different color.
