Daisies and Hot Love in Schönbrunn
Sunday Lunch at Café Meierei Jausenstation

The Art of Sunday Lunch
After a long walk through Schönbrunn Park,
homemade asparagus ravioli with dainty daisy garnish

The sky was still hidden behind heavy clouds,
but the incessant rain of Saturday had finally stopped

More moderate temperatures were slowly inching back
to the proper May level we had been wishing for

A chalkboard at the entrance to the romantic country setting
of the former playhouse shelter promised "Hot Love" -
hot raspberry sauce over vanilla ice-cream

Having lunch and coffee with a view of Schönbrunn's gardens -
even a glimpse of the palace roof, in the window frame in the top right corner

Espresso coffee and a Guglhupf to share,
what better end to a lovely alfresco lunch?

After all that feasting,
we took the long way home -
some sacrifices must be made, after all ;-)

"Where once the emporer’s children were playing...
After the year 1918 the pavilion was not in use for about 10 years. Later on the pavilion was rebuild in a late 1920s style which was the basis for its look today. In 1927 a coffeehouse opened for the first time in the pavilion."

  3. Merisi, your Sunday looks like a wonderful day, having a walk in beautiful surroundings as the sky cleared, stopping for an elegant lunch in a welcoming restaurant with a history. Those ravioli look sooo light. The chef made great use of spring asparagus.

And of course the coffee and shared pastry topped things off so well, before you all had another walk.

    Perfect! xo
