Blue Hour at Prince Eugene's
The Upper Belvedere Palace

Sphinx
Guarding the Palace

The Upper Belvedere Palace
Another sphinx, looking at you!

Bare Trees
Illuminated, reaching for the sky

Photographed Sunday Evening
I had visited an exhibition at the nearby 21er Haus Museum,
which closed at 6:00 PM. I decided the evening was too beautiful
to go home immediately and took a walk through the Belvedere gardens.
I had no camera (yes, those rare moments exist), so I tried to capture
the scene with my mobile phone, as best as I could.
Now I wonder, is there an App for Dummies, or anything that could help me
capture better, less pixelated pictures?

-> Sphinx, at Dictionary.com:
"Classical Mythology. a monster,
usually represented as having the head and breast of a woman,
the body of a lion, and the wings of an eagle. Seated on a rock outside of Thebes,
she proposed a riddle to travelers, killing them when they answered incorrectly,
as all did before Oedipus. When he answered her riddle correctly the Sphinx killed herself"

  1. They do say blue and green should never be seen - how wrong they can be, you have shown it off to perfection.

    1. Here they say red and green should never be seen - how wrong indeed if they can't even decide on a colour combination! :)) ♥nic

    2. There are quite a few verdigris roofs all over Vienna, and they always look great against the blue sky. ;-)

  2. Absolutely stunning. It's hard to believe you took it on your phone. I could use some help with taking pictures with the phone myself.

    1. Thank you, that is very kind of you to say that! :-)

There are instances, when the phone camera works beautifully, in others not so well.

  5. They are pixelated but they are no less beautiful. The colours are beautiful, set against that stunning blue sky. I would love to visit Vienna one day.

    1. I wonder if there's a setting to reduce the pixel noise and produce less grainy images.
I hope you can realise your dream of visiting Vienna soon!
      Cheers,

  6. The Slow Shutter app may help you in low light situations. It gives you some added control of shutter speed and exposure, and you can save photos in high resolution.
