Prague is less than 200 miles northwest of Vienna and
"has been a political, cultural, and economic centre of central Europe
with waxing and waning fortunes during its 1,100-year existence.
Founded during the Romanesque and flourishing by the Gothic and Renaissance eras,
Prague was not only the capital of the Czech state, but also the seat of two Holy Roman Emperors
and thus also the capital of the Holy Roman Empire.
It was an important city to the Habsburg Monarchy
and its Austro-Hungarian Empire and after World War I
became the capital of Czechoslovakia."

  4. Merisi, Your wall lamp light is beautiful. It in focus and foreground and background out of focus. yum! I get the impression that Prague is a little "long in the tooth" from your photographs. But if you are a 1100 years old you have a right to be.

Looks like cobblestone patterns change often. I'll make a guess and say they changed with property lines?

    1. I wanted to show the pink and golden hues of light!
Prague reflects the unique architectural riches of centuries in the most beautiful way.
Cobblestones are everywhere. I could fill a book with pictures of the various patterns and stones.

  12. I am sad to say that, in all my travels, I have miss Prague. Another city I always wanted to visit was Budapest. I am running out of years...perhaps there really is reincarnation and I get all I missed on another go round. Hope I'll be wealthier next time.

  14. Really lovely images of Prague, Merisi! The worn tiles in the hallway make my imagination swim! When I see them, all I can think is how many silver-buckled shoes have worn the tiles to the point where they are now? How many swishing taffeta skirts have skimmed them on their way in the door for a social call, a party, a rendezvous? What tales these tiles have seen!

Thank you for sharing your lovely images of your time in Prague with us!
