Joseph Genuss - Bakery Pâtisserie Bistro
Artisan Bread, Pastries and creative regional cuisine
Great place for breakfast, lunch, and coffee break
Landstrasser Hauptstrasse 4
3rd District
A very short walk from
Wien Mitte train and U3 and U4 metro station

Joseph Genuss reminds me of Breadline D.C., in Washington D.C.,
on Pennsylvania Avenue NW, near the White House, founded by
the legendary Mark Fürstenberg who brought artisan bread
to D.C. in the late 90s.
The "bread lines" back then, at his first "Marvelous Market" bakery
on Wisconsin Avenue NW, were so long, and demand so big,
there were times when he had to limit purchases to two loaves per customer.
The Russian Pravda published a picture of people standing in line
at Mark's bakery, dutifully headlining it with "breadlines in America's capital" -
or so the story goes.

  1. Oh, and he is wearing an elegant camel coat. I wouldn't be surprised if they served him coffee in a pretty cup ;-).

  2. Oh my word I'm positively salivating. What beautiful delights.

Marshmallows make you think of home? Then if you don't mind my asking, where is home?

  8. Early AM here and those delightful pasteries make my mouth water. Nothing like that in my kitchen today. Love the dog with his own blanket and the story about DC.
