  1. No, I am not in Venice. It is raining here in Vienna and that's when I start dreaming of Venice in the rain.

  3. Enitram,
Venice is always beautiful, but especially in the rain.

Here is a Charles Aznavour song for you!

    Good night from rainy Vienna,

  4. Merisi, I have collected some Park Avenue tulips for you over at my place.

I also could dream about Venice! xo

  5. Mi first time in Venice was in the glaring sun and I did not like it. The second time I was there, I arrived when it was drizzling and I fell in love with it. Lovely photo, Merisi :)

  6. Venice light is unbelievable! Colourful umbrellas on the silver background - a scene for an Impressionist to paint.

  7. Frances,
    thank you!
I visited your blog and was delighted. :-)

    Simona,
in my experience, during the summer season, getting up at dawn brings equally beautiful light.

    Zosia,
of course, a painter could come along and paint it in the Impressionist style. On the other hand, I chose to "paint" with my camera (photography = drawing with light (from the Greek words phos' ['φῶς'] + 'graphé'). ;-)

  8. What a fantastic picture - enlarged, the reflections on the wet ground and the shimmery buildings across the water are just magical.

  10. Why do rainy days in Venice have to look so romantic?

  11. I think it would still be magical to be in Venice, even in the rain, struggling with an umbrella and trying to keep the raindrops off one's camera lens. But being in Vienna in the rain would seem as magical to me, as well. A case of "the grass is always wetter on the other side"?

  12. It almost looks as if they are dancing...

  13. Elizabeth,
    I agree! :-)

    Karen,
    it was magical, indeed! :-)

    Paris Breakfasts,
San Giorgio simply disappear in the mist. ;-)

    Loree,
my answer would be quite naughty! ;-)

    Louciao,
it is homesickness. As much as I have come to like it here in Vienna, my first love will always be Italy.

    Vicki Lane,
I was standing there quite some time, observing the scene, and I had the same impression. ;-)
