Love the wonderful crooked tree!
Just gorgeous my dear lady!
I am in agreement with V Lane about the beauty of that tree. And also want to praise the clear blue sky, the clear sunlight that shines on all those subtle Viennese neutral colors. On a warm, perhaps hot sunny day in late June, what do those folks at the outdoor cafe tables order? On any day, any season, I will continue to return here to see your wonderful pictures and words.May all your studies have marvelous results.xo
That tree would make a good infrared photo.
ah la lumiere! ! !
Oh, that tree! Oh, that wonderful entryway! Ahhhh...
It looks like there are no overweight people in Vienna, just svelte, beautiful people!I like that crooked tree-- a one-of-a-kind.
Is this chair taken, do you mind if I join you?In my dreams of course!
Vicki Lane, that tree has been one of my favorites ever since I discovered it in a courtyard not far from St. Stephen's cathedral (only later did I find out that the house behind it belongs to a friend of a DC friend of mine - small world!). Badger, the day was so sunny and gorgeous, I decided to talk a long walk after lunch. ;-)
Frances, from my experience and observation, I'd say that Viennese would order one of the following:a Spritzer - half water and half Veltliner, an Austrian white winea "Summer Spritzer" - same as above, only less wine, a quarter wine to three quarters soda watera cool beer - neither warm as the English do, nor half frozen as our friends from Down Under nor the American way, ice-cold a soda citron- cold soda with a schnapps glass of fresh squeezed lemon juice, no sugarice coffee - a tall glass with 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream, coffee poured over it and topped with whipped cream, "Schlag" as it is called hereI do not remember seeing ice cubes used.American friends notice this phenomenon immediately. I don't miss them.
