Against The Dearth Of Monday Poems

A LIGHT exists in spring
Not present on the year
At any other period.
When March is scarcely here

A color stands abroad
On solitary hills
That silence cannot overtake,
But human nature feels.

It waits upon the lawn;
It shows the furthest tree
Upon the furthest slope we know;
It almost speaks to me.

Then, as horizons step,
Or noons report away,
Without the formula of sound,
It passes, and we stay:

A quality of loss
Affecting our content,
As trade had suddenly encroached
Upon a sacrament.

  5. The Dickinson poem reminds me of many in "A Child's Garden of Verses," a favorite childhood book. Your blooms are beautiful harbingers of spring, which we are all awaiting!

  7. Just found your blog - such beautiful photos. I see I have a lot of reading to do to go right back to the beginnings in 2005; that will be a pleasure I think.

  8. Daffodils always remind me of Easter, even though we never have any at that time of year down here.

  9. Happy International Women's Day, Merisi. Yellow daffodils or yellow mimosa--both great. (And Emily, too, of course.)

    ciao

  10. Thank you all so much for your kind comments!
    Thank you, Giulia, for reminding me of International Women's Day, I would have missed it this year without you reminding me. I was so busy preparing for a trip abroad, I hardly had time to pause today (not that there has been time the previous days either).

    A wonderful week to all of you,
    Merisi

  18. I plan to plant some croci in the weekend. Croci, daffodils and bulbs in general sing Spring to me.You have captured their delicate yet decisive nature. They are lovely!
