    the sun rises out of the mist above the Danube river.

    The air yesterday was so brilliant, I don't think that haze from pollution was the culprit. I have observed from Schönbrunn's Gloriette how in the course of the morning thick grey fog or mist rises from the river, then drifts over the city, obscuring the the sky until the sun burns through again (or not, as often happens during winter).

    I also wanted to mention that it was so bitterly cold, -15°Celcius, that just after I captured those images, my lens froze completely and I had to put the camera under my coat, to warm it up again. That may have contributed to the reduced quality of the light (the sun was clear orange when looked at by the naked eye).
