  1. Dear readers,
clicking on the pictures will take you on more walks through Leopoldstadt, Vienna's 2nd District, across the Wien river from the 1st District.
    To all a good week!

  2. I love that intense clear blue in the first shot and then the reflections of that same blue in the various windows...
    A story there...

  3. You are my door to blue skies today. I keep telling my husband how much I want to visit Vienna. He doesn't realize why (or how) my obsession keeps getting topped up!

  4. @ ParisBreakfasts:
Yes, Carol, there's a story there: Remember that gnome with the red hat? Well, that was not really a gnome, but ... to be continued! ;-)

    @ Bee:
Just make sure that you ask for that Big Blue Sky when you book: They are as special as they are rare. I took Friday off and walked and walked because we've had too many grey days this November already.

  7. Wow, so much beauty. You have a wonderful eye -- and a wonderful ear. I very much appreciated the mention of the silent door. Thank you for sharing these.

  9. I do so love wandering about with you, Merisi. I can wear my pyjamas or high heeled shoes and leave my camera at home. But I'm glad I'm properly attired today because I think I'll just pop in to the Cadiz Tapas Bar for a bit...

  16. I see a palm tree growing there. I always thought it would be too cold in Vienna for palms. It looks just like the palmetto trees that grow here in Florida.

  17. Alan,
these palm trees are moved indoors once the temperature falls to near zero. There are many palm trees around Vienna, as well as oleander bushes. Viennese don't seem to mind that it takes a lot of effort to keep them alive during the winter months.
