Viennese Escapes: Mid-Spring Morning by the Lake

Morning by the Lake
Nature slowly casting off
the dreamy langour of the night

Eager Young Leaves
reflecting the first warm rays from the East

An Early Bird
singing his morning song
from his wooden perch

A Gaggle of Gray Geese
taking their morning swim

A Blossoming Apple Tree
waiting to be kissed by the morning sun

  2. Those are some dramatic, beautiful photos, Merisi! You really saw those birds all lined up and flying in their V, eh? lovely!

  5. I sure wish I saw Vienna & environs like this! This is so beautiful - a true spring. (We were there in late Dec. 1989 - it was soooo cold - I dragged my husband to see the Danube & we spent about 5 minutes looking at the water & rushed back to the train station. Such fair weather tourists. :)

  7. Thank you, MAALIE, for giving me the name of the little bird! :-)

    A BRUSH WITH COLOR,
oh yes, the V-formation was for real! :-) At the same excursion I also witnessed about a dozen swans flying overhead, a memorably event. I could hear their wings batting from afar, but didn't know that the noise was made by swans, so I missed the opportunity when the flew right by my nose. ;-)

    SEAMUS,
Neusiedler Lake is a very shallow lake, lots of reeds, always beautiful to rest one's eyes upon.

    SIMON,
I imagine, we are going into summer and your side into winter.
I hope you have got enough rain!

  8. TASH,
Spring is immensely beautiful here - the city herself decked out in tulips and late spring flowers, (though they are fading fast, due to the high temperature), with the lilacs blooming and their fragrance wafting all over the city's green spaces and gardens. I hope you can return one day in late April!

    PHOTOWANNABE,
imagine, Neusiedler Lake is less than an hour from the city center! :-)
