Newspaperman Singing a Song of Distant Shores

Early Morning Encounter
The neighborhood lay quiet still
when all of a sudden
I heard a beautiful melody
arising from afar.
The voice grew stronger,
and there he was, the singer,
passing by on a bicycle,
a newspaperman,
one of many so ubiquitous on Vienna's streets,
singing his song,
far from his native shores.

  1. That is absolutely lovely. I wish that I could have heard it too.

  2. Reminds me of the time when I heard a fisherman singing one night in Majorca as he rowed his boat towards the shore.
    Beautiful.

  3. Those lights make me think so much of a long line of UFOs sweeping down the street.

  4. I love the photo of the tree lined street ending in traffic.

  6. What a great shot, Merisi! Great depth....and yes, those lights DO look a little UFOish. Wishing you and yours a lovely Easter weekend. Hugs from Dallas...

  7. What a beautiful photograph; so peaceful and lovely, with the lone figure on the bicycle. I enjoyed the music and wonderful images in the link, too! Happy Easter weekend to you, Merisi.

  8. Your photographs are absolutely sublime, so beautiful! Your website is good for the soul. William Blake's poetry is so fitting to accompany these magnificent pictures. You are very talented Merisi. It was I that deleted a comment on a previous post only because I said Venice instead of Vienna, and I was embarrassed because of my mistake. Happy Easter Merisi.
