  2. These brightend my day, Merisi. The floral arrangement is simple, yet the colors and textures are so rich. The colors of Spring....yes?

  6. That corner is surreal. Feels like an M. C. Escher painting.

  8. Beautiful photos of Rome. Aaaaaah. And I haven't watched "Big Night" in a long time--that was such a treat--I love that movie. That last line..."My mother was such a terrible cook" just kills me. Priceless.

  9. Thank you all for your kind comments!

    CHARLES GRAMLICH,
that is such a keen observation and I agree, this corner could have been easily at least an inspiration to M.C. Escher! Imagine the genius of Michelangelo's reconfiguration of the piazza, that corner is but a very small part of the whole. Looking at this aerial view of Piazza di Campiglio, the image I captured is of the southern tip of it, such a small yet so grand part of the whole!

    A BRUSH WITH COLOR,
oh yes, that movie is special to me too - the meatball scene is also hilarious. The Italian writer Tommasi de Lampedusa's decribes in his Sicilian novel "Il Gattopardo" (originally mistakenly translated as "The Leopard") another great "timpano" - only he names it a "pasticcio" -, with a pastry crust and even more special filling, pheasant and the like. I once went through the trouble and cooked one. Really quite simple, but at least a day's worth of preparation. ;-)
