Tales from the Mountains

Hard Hat, Red Trackies
Blue Wonder!

Picture a bit blurry?
Well, yes,
My heart had just missed a beat.
Or two:
I was hiking along an almost vertical mountain face,
when I encountered these fellows,
And foolishly enquired about
The remaining distance to the top.
"So sorry,"
They answered,
"We don't know,
We climbed straight up the wall
!"

Ship Happens
Tread carefully!

Red Wild Strawberries
Build your own Fairyland!
What better excuse to play
In the moss,
After an arduous hike?

Hiker with Red Walking Cane
Yes, I encountered her
Right at the foot of
That vertical mountain face!
Did I ask her any questions,
How far to the top?
You bet.
Not!

On Walden Pond
After Henry David Thoreau
Finally got his Liqueurumberjack License.

Evening Entertainment
Puppeteers, performing a play
About San Francis
And the Big Bad Wolfe.
Note:
Attendance was voluntary,
And entirely by accident
.

Red Cross Stitch Pattern
On White Curtains
Square meals
Served to hungry hikers
.

Accordion Player
In white and red checkered shirt
Yes, a bit hazy.
But what to expect,
After a day of strenuous hiking
?

    red berries there...

  8. SOMEPINKFLOWERS:
Yes, you are right, I selected the images according to color criteria. ;-)

    FLYINGSTARS:
    THANK YOU! :-)

    ANNA:
    You are welcome! :-)
The lady has my deepest respect,
even if she did not come straight down that mountain face.

  9. TLC ILLUSTRATIONS:
I could not help but think of you while arranging the scene. ;-)
I hope you get to eat those blueberries any which way you'd like too, soon! :-)

    ESTHER:
    Thank you! :-)

    LLAMA:
    Not vertically! ;-)

    FREREFALLING:
No! The stag appeared down by the woods of the Danube river, while the old lady was on her way down an Alpine valley, toward the village of Pürgg, Styria, some 150 miles southwest of Vienna.

    Oh all the red!!!!

I love a good hike and finding treasures like wild strawberries, just waiting to be picked and eaten:)

  11. The wild strawberries look enticing! Did you eat them yourself or leave them for the fairies?

  12. MY MELANGE:
    More reds to come! :-)

    MAALIE:
I got greedy after all playing, and had them all by myself. They tasted heavenly! ;-)

  14. I love the picture with wild strawberries. You ate them, did you? Were they sweet? I'm also curious about the evening entertainment picture. What is that domineering, white peak rising in the background? I like the way it's capturing the last of the day's light. Stop by my site if you get a chance. While I'm not a top-notch photographer like you, I took a few pictures at the lake that I think turned out ok. Let me know what you think. Happy Thursday!

  15. What a great sequence. Even your blurred shot is perfect. That's a refreshing journey, even from Connecticut!

  16. Oh my Merisi...you are quite adventurous and courageous...I especially liked the photo of the old lady with the red cane...perhaps it had been quite some time since she started the journey..

Wild strawberries...yum....are there bears in the mountains? A delightful post my friend...

  17. CHEFFIE-MOM:
    Thank you! :-)

    ALLIE:
The mountain peak in the background is part of the mountain range where I hiked last week. The alpine huts you see in the picture are about halfway up from the valley, on a so-called "Alm", Alpine meadows where cows are sent up to pasture over the summer (yes, the cows were wearing bells).
The puppet show was part of the after-dinner entertainment for a group of tourists (a real American BBQ with all the trimmings had been prepared on a giant outdoor grill!).

  19. DEE DEE;
I learned to love mountain hiking and trekking as a teenager, and still am passionate about it. I love it even in the rain.

    No bear crossed my path.
The wild strawberries were plentyful and sweet!

  20. Wonderful hike. Lovely scenes! Old lady with cane impressive! The wobbly picture understandable. The drop fearful!

Thanks for your account on my blog of the choking child. Glad you managed to revive him by standing him on his head! Sometimes desperate measures have to be taken!
