Heat

Imperial Insignia
And a few forelorn heralds
Under a deep blue sky.

Down Below
In the Imperial Palace's Courtyard,
A dozen or so tourists,
Braving the merciless heat
.

No More
They said!
And withered,
Only steps from relief
!

Misty Relief
Of the garden hose variety,
Just outside the courtyard,
At Heldenplatz
.

A Few More Steps Onwards
Two grown-ups,
Playing
"Catch the drops!"

High Noon
And the best place in town,
May well be here,
Under the fountain,
Contemplating a dive into the pond
!

No Clochard
Under the bridge,
Pigeons instead,
Trying to find some shade
!

Commotion
What commotion?
Go ahead,
Make my day
!

Splash!
Oh yes, and then,
No more words
!

All I Want to Do
Is sit
In the shade

And smell the roses!

  2. The mallard appears to be undertaking her post-nuptial moult as she seems to have shed some tail coverts behind her.

It was a lovely moment, watching the birds around the fountain. Made me want to dive right in. ;-)

    MAALIE:
    Clever mallard,
she did what many of us would want to do when the heat becomes suffocating: Shed a few feathers! ;-)
