  2. Love these ever so casual Venetian scenes of everyday life...
Can life ever be "everyday" in Venice?
    It can.

  4. It's so nice. What a scholarly place!

(Not having to look out for careening if that's the word vehicles MUST have something to do with it.)

  7. Love the hat with the wide red ribbon. Someday, I hope to enjoy a leisurely read of the Sunday paper but for right now, I manage an article or two before being summoned to play and tie shoes!

  8. Very nice Merici, That first photo sets the stage nicely for this leisurely Sunday post. Good to know the Gondoliers get to read their paper too!

Always a feast for the eyes when I visit. BTW Do you still have your other blog?

  19. SandyCarlson:
    Thank you,
that bookshop with a gondola of books is a true Venetian landmark.

    ParisBreakfasts:
In Venice the mundane takes you in, and its beauty casts a spell.

    the mother of this lot:
Laundry turning into art, that's how life's supposed to be, isn't it? ;-)

    Sally Crawford from London:
Strolling while reading, I found that most interesting. ;-) I can't think of any other place where it's done, not in pedestrian zones here in Vienna.

  20. DAD:
Yes, the colours! Later in the morning, the sky turned a brilliant blue. Imagine.

    Jennifer:
    Thank you!
We walked for hours that Sunday morning, and had a hard time letting go, even the thought of driving to Florence was of little comfort for a while. ;-)

    hexe:
    Oh, I remember those times!
I trained mine to "read" the Sunday funnies, several pages of colored comics kept them busy for an article or two for me. ;-)

    rochambeau:
    Thank you, Constance!
    Still have the Strawberry Fields,
but it's not linked right now because I have not found any time to update it. :-(

the second time around only five. :-))

    Thank you, Sandi! :-)

    I love that! :-)

  24. Fantastic exercise in people watching. I could study these for hours, wondering what people do, what they are thinking, where they are going.....
Over from David's. Great dedication too. ;0) And I WISH my laundry looked like that!

  25. David McMahon:
Thank you for always being out there for us doubting bloggers, could well be that without your encouragement I'd given up on blogging some time ago.
I hope you will be able to get away and treat your family to a Venetian holiday soon!

    crazycath:
Venice and Naples have the best light to expose laundry at it's best! I think one of the delights of Venice is walking and sitting among Venetians themselves, they are very special to me.

  26. Exquisite! Your images are so soft, painterly even.

The reading sequence is most evocative.

  31. I love these shots...

... although reading while walking ended up sending me to urgent care one day...

... it is an enterprise that requires great caution.

  32. Whooopsie, sorry, that last comment about reading while walking was me.
