A Midsummer Day's Dream

The sign!

Think.

What would you have done?

With visions of sugar plums row after row
of sheer delight?

Double vision!
(Yes, click on the picture!)

From the inside, flowers and angels chocolates
beckoning, their fragrance permeating the air.

The tidy bows calling you,
"Open me, pleeease!"

Passiflora edulis and Ladies' fingers waving at you,
with beguiling smiles, trying to entice you to step closer.

Even the letters on the wrapped boxes,
dancing in front of your eyes, join the chorus,
whispering, "Chocolatiers since 1786!"

And more sweet temptations lining up,

gesturing, beseeching you to deliver
them from their silver tray!
Die süßesten kleinen Naschereien.

I trust, you'd do as I did:
Give in to temptation,
enter the Kohlgraben Paradise,
and take the reward, for so much swift resolve:
The best Melange of all of Wien,
and fresh baked Cherry Strudel,
served with florish and grace,
by the one special Demelinerin.

Dedicated to
V.

It is a set of beautiful pictures of things I can taste but not really. Your photos are very good and the larger pictures make the temptation even greater. Nice work.

Thank you for visiting my blog and commenting there.

  8. ABRAHAM LINCOLN:
    You are welcome,
    and thank you.

Demel's quality keeps me from getting tempted by all those other sweets that look so enticing all over Vienna. :-) I can well say, that Demel's keeping me on a good diet. Most of the time (and then, Strudels really are mostly fruit, wouldn't you agree? Five a day, or what were those recommandations?).

Wow! What stunning pictures. You have captured some of the things I love most about Euorpe. I love the confections and the packaging too!

You are always welcome for an encore. :-)

    Bergson:
If I eat anything there, it is usually a strudel, twice a year the Annatorte, better not start with "researching" here. ;-)

    :O ))))!

    Britt-Arnhild:
    Thank you!
Cherry strudel there tastes out of this world. Unfortunately I cannot even begin to describe the taste sensations, otherwise I am banging at their front door before opening time today. ;-)

    Cream:
Thank you, I am glad you enjoy the simple pleasures Vienna has to offer. ;-)

    Annie:

I would have suggested staying with the cherry strudel. And then, tomorrow ...... As I have stated before, if I plan to sin, I know exactly where to head to. ;-)

    Cuckoo:
Oh no, please, one piece a day, you will want to enjoy it, won't you? ;-)

    veronica:
I promise you, by the time you will visit them, there will be something there for you, too.
    Abbraccione!

    my melange:
Did you know that everything, everything!, is hand folded and wrapped, even the tiniest confections? And then tied with lovingly selected ribbons? Finished with a beautiful gold printed sticker? Every time I watch somebody wrapping, they seem to ooze loving care into every little part of the process (not even starting to talk, how well they select only the very best of ingredients, whipping for example the cream by hand because the mixers they once experimented with didn't give the same mouthfeel to the whipped cream).

    Maryam in Marrakesh:
Dizzying endless pleasure, well, hard to stand (or did you want to say "resist"? *giggle*)

    Debbie Egizio:
Thank you, it's so easy with such willing and pleasing subjects. :-)
