Winter Rose

Seated on Elysian lawns
Brows'd by none but Dian's fawns;
Underneath large blue-bells tented,
Where the daisies are rose-scented,
And the rose herself has got
Perfume which on earth is not;
Where the nightingale doth sing
Not a senseless, tranced thing,
But divine melodious truth;
Philosophic numbers smooth;
Tales and golden histories
Of heaven and its mysteries
.

From:
"Ode" by John Keats.

  1. I came over here from Corey's blog. I am making dinner right now, but realize that I am in for a treat after dinner - with coffee. Your photos are tempting me:-)

  3. As if your photos were not enough an expression of your sensitive and cultured soul, you have to offer us poetry this heart melting, too...
    What can I say. Poetry makes you stop, breathe, think, feel. But as most prose is much easier we simply forget how it feels to stop and smell the roses, regardless of what happens next.
    The other day we were stuck in traffic. I opened a little volume of The Odysssey I keep in the car. Although the children are familiar with the Odyssey from condensed versions,they were mesmerised by the actual text.

    Thank you for stopping by and leaving your kind message.
    It is my eldest's 12th birthday.
    So much like me only better. I offer thanks and prayer.

    Lovely visiting you.
    Be happy,
    Irene

    Welcome! I'd love to tempt you again and again. :-)
    @ Irene:
    Thank you for your heart-warming words. I grew up with parents and grandparents who recited poems by heart ever seems I was born, so how could I not love poetry?
    @ KJ:
    Who could not be a fan of andrea's? :-)
    Thank you for your comment, hope to see you again.
    @ Muddy:
    It's fabric, and its lushness made me fall for it. ;-)
