Christmas: Parting Is Such Sweet Sorrow

Good Luck Piglet

Bidding good-bye to Christmas
Austrians put their Christmas trees up on Christmas Eve and do not take it down before January 6th, the arrival of the Three Kings in Bethlehem (in the old times, farmers kept the trees up until February 2nd, Candelmas). In Vienna, shop windows continued to show their Christmas finery, but after Christmas many added sale signs and New Year's charms and symbols. I spotted only a few sweet shops that switched from Christmas to New Years decorations only over the long Christmas weekend.

My favorite blogosphere Christmas send-off:
Hugh Crawford's "NO WORDS_DAILY PIX" entry of January 6th.
