Mariahilfer Strasse
Summer in the City

Mariahilfer Strasse
Vienna newest pedestrian zone

Vienna's busiest shopping street
is now a tree-lined open-air mall

that cleverly combines the pleasures
of leisurely strolling, window shopping

or sitting in a sidewalk café,
watching the world go by

All of this - and more -
without a car whizzing by

Photographed with my mobile phone
the afternoon of 26 June 2015

    1. Well, they have plenty of alternative routes in Vienna and most people travel on the excellent public transport system anyway.

  8. I sure would love to stroll down those streets.
The weather looks cooler than here at home.
    Today the temperature was 107F.
Too hot and I hate to see what my electricity bill will be. The air conditioning unit has been going for 24 hours straight. I can't sleep when it's too hot. Ugh!
