Christmastime in Vienna
Are you ready?

Café Diglas
Yuletide chandelier

Schulerstrasse 4
Turning from Diglas at Wollzeile
towards Strobelgasse, looking up,
this is the backside of one of the buildings
close to the Mozarthaus at Domgasse 5

Mistletoe
Storefront at Wollzeile

Before the ice is in the pools,
Before the skaters go,
Or any cheek at nightfall
Is tarnished by the snow,
Before the fields have finished,
Before the Christmas tree,
Wonder upon wonder
Will arrive to me!
What we touch the hems of
On a summer's day;
What is only walking
Just a bridge away;
That which sings so, speaks so,
When there's no one here, --
Will the frock I wept in
Answer me to wear?

    1. Yes, there are sides to Vienna that come to the fore this time of the year. The Viennese are hard at working to make us forget that the weather can be dank and dreary this time of the year.

  6. Please if you can give us some night time Christmas lights on the buildings. Would be spectacular I bet.
    I am a non believer but the ideas of giving and sharing is a part of human kindness. That's the idea of Christmas to me.

  9. If I am ever to return to Vienna, I hope it is at Christmas time! Such color and elegance won't be dimmed by the crowds.
