Café Sperl in Mariahilf
Grand Viennese Coffee House

Saturday Morning
Coffee served the Viennese way,
on a silvery tray with a glass of water
topped with a downturned spoon

In the quiet of an
early weekend morning

Chacun à son Goût
Some of us would rather
catch another 40 winks!

"... it must be said
that the Viennese coffeehouse
is a particular institution
which is not comparable to any other
in the world..."

Stefan Zweig,
"The World of Yesterday.
Memories of a European"

of a Saturday in June

Mariahilf, 6th District

  1. Great photos as usual. I love in particular the second one not only because the coffee house is wonderful but because it really gives "the quiet, lazy" feeling typical of the weekend

    1. Grazie tante, Fabrizio! :-)
I love the Sperl, especially when I manage to sneak away from the world for an hour early on a weekend morning.

  4. Merisi, I thought you are an Austrian woman writing in English, but obviously you seem to be an expatriate!? Have you been able to read and understand what I wrote in German? I think so...
...because you're living there for several years now in and around Vienna!

Thanks a lot for your kind comments on some of my posts! All the best from your neighbor country Germany!

    Uwe.
