  1. Dear Readers:
It is a repost. Wished I could publish something new, but unfortunately I am spending my time getting my tools, i.e. computers, back together.
As soon as I think at least one of them is running smoothly, other problems creep up. Right now, my images saved to external hard drives play havoc. It seems like this Sisyphusian endeavour will never end.

    2. Thank you, that is so kind of you!
Right now, I can't open a PSD file from the external hard drive without Bridge going crazy: The spinning circle that alerts to "activity" in the lower left corner of the Bridge window (were it reports that thumbnails and previews are being extracted), never stops spinning. The file in question is a PSD file with text - I am surprised it tries to re-cache a PSD file in the first place and then worried because I have now tried to use copies from two different hard drives with the same fatal result: the spinning circle never stops. Only recourse, force quit the Bridge.

    3. Since you've tried it from different HD-drives I'm afraid that the PSD file is damaged. Sorry, I don't have a solution for that.

    4. Wednesday Morning
For now, everything is working. Keeping my fingers crossed.
      Thank you again,

    1. Thank you! :-)

It is interesting to revisit old post/pictures (this one is from exactly a year ago): at times I feel hesitant to reuse them because it would probably look differently if I took the picture now. Then again, this is a blog and not a portfolio, and I still cling to the notion that a daily blog needs to be spontaneous. At least that's what I try to tell myself, the good, the bad, the ugly, rather than being stopped in my track by "perfectionism". ;-)

  3. I have had so many similar problems, Merisi, and I do know how frustrating it is! But I never tire of seeing a shot like this -- of course, now I'm yearning for a cup!!

    1. Frustrating it is, indeed. The wish to return to the cave comes up ... then again, trying to light a fire was also quite a chore ;-)

  4. Oh no, they put whipped cream in a Melange at the Sacher?
Melange, THE Viennese Café is served with milk-foam (steamed) only.

What happened to your computer? I hope it is not a new one. Those new devices are always very, very time consuming, aren't they?

    1. I opened my Yahoo.de account and all hell froze over. Literally. :-(

It happened to my rather new one, but right now I am trying to get my slightly older one into working order, all updates, etc. -

Re Melange at S: I was quite surprised by the Schlag.
Anyway, I went there only that one time (I have been tempted to pull a Thomas Bernhard / Paul Wittgenstein, having coffee on their outdoor "terrace" and looking at the "back" of the opera house).

  5. I wonder if the yahoo account is the reason for what went wrong, some sort of malware in the email.

I'm not a coffee drinker, but I'd make an exception for this!

    1. The Yahoo site started to behaving weirdly as soon as I opened it.
      I won't touch it, for a long time, that's for sure. ;-)

In Vienna, having coffee really is different from other places I have known. It feels like a clean break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, even if only as long as the coffee lasts.

  6. Such a delicate setting. I'd feel almost civilized having something like this.

    1. *smile* Would love to see you a convert to the art of having coffee in Vienna. Maybe I should rename my blog, "Proselytising about Coffee".

  7. Schlag in melange is usually an option, not a standard delivery, in my experience in Wien. Mind you I usually drink tea everywhere *except* in Wien, where all coffee types are a delight in the varied kaffeehausen. Tried to explain to a visitor, coffee in Wien is not a "fix", it is an experience, slow, unhurried, to savour.

Wonderful picture Merisi, I love the surprise of your re-posts, as much as the joy of new ones.
