The Early Bird Commuter and the Undecided
A Viennese Rush Hour Moment

An Early Bird on Wheels
braving the drizzle

riding through

the Rose Garden

on his commute,

past the Temple of Theseus

where another early bird's still not sure
whether it will be shirt and tie
for him too, today.

Photographed on the rainy morning of 13 June 2012
in the Rose Garden, Volksgarten Park, with views of the Grillparzer Monument,
the Austrian Parliament, the Museum of Natural History, the Museum of the History of Art,
the Theseus Temple and the 1920s "The Winner" statue by Josef Müllner

  1. I can almost feel the rain, but what beautiful captures for the day, Merisi! I would love to visit and enjoy them in person, but your photos are the next best thing! Thanks for sharing! Hope your week is going well!

  2. What fun it is for me to now recognize at least some of the places you show!
Yes, the rose garden is wonderful.

  3. Beautiful, witty, and glad to see it is only drizzle.
How high is the Donau now? Getting damp at Schwedenplatz yet? I hope that Wien is escaping the high river...

  4. What a beautiful way for that commuter to start and end his day ... I hope he stops to smell the roses on his way home.

  5. The rain makes everything look green, fresh and new. A delightful environment and such a handsome sculpture!
