    1. Vienna's know for its Flieder, i.e. lilacs. My first spring here, I was pleasantly surprised by the way the whole city seems to be enveloped in lilacs and its fragrance this time of the year.

  3. Love, love, love, love, love lilacs, lilly of the valley and all spring flowers. We are still waiting for lilacs in Warsaw (sweet anticipation). Currently we are enjoying fruit blossoms.

    1. Fruit blossoms came and went way too fast around here, with temperatures hitting the 80s, they can't last long, unfortunately.

    2. P.S.: I love getting up to NY City in spring, after the spring blossoms started fading in DC. Up in NY they are about two weeks behind and it was nice to re-live the season.

  4. The Europeans sure know a thing or two about beautiful flowers. They are my favorite things in the market.

    1. Sam,
that is truly different, even flower shops offer less "static" arrangements here. ,-)

  5. The market looks like a place that would warm anyone's heart and lift one's spirit. The photos with the flowers and the hands are different than the ordinary snapshots of customers and flowers with the concentration on an important aspect of the exchange. Bravo!

    1. Thank you, Kate! :-)
I love Saturdays there, up early to do the shopping, and afterwards there are a number of great cafes and restaurant at Yppen Square, one of them is Restaurant Wetter, The Art of Italian Lunch, another favorite is La Salvia for coffee and breakfast, then there is Cafe An-Do, great for early (and late) breakfast and good food all day.

    2. Even though it does not look like it, you can click on each restaurant's name and see what they offer. Bon voyage!

  20. Beautiful! One of my fondest childhood memories are lilacs in the spring. They do not grow where I live now, but I can almost smell them when I think of lilacs!
