* Woolly Pigs
Mangalitsa (also spelled Mangalitza) Pigs
"Mangalitsa is one of the last
autochthonous pig breeds in Europe.
The hogs have a lot of curly hairs and are
undemanding, which allows keeping
Mangalitsa outdoors throughout the year.
Outdoor keeping contributes essentially
to the sustainable preservation
of the steppe landscape in North Burgenland." Quote from the website

    1. Thank you, Martin!
The area of the National Park is immensely beautiful. Besides the landscape, there are also so many water fowels and birds of passage to discover. And there my heart with pleasure fills, whenever I am in the area, to say it with William Wordsworth's words.

  2. Oh, I agree, Merisi, it does look like a painting! The pigs are interesting and it is so important to keep these old breeds for sustainable farming. The coffee does look very good. xx

    1. Yes, Karen, it is comforting to know that more and more those treasures of our forefathers are valued and taken care off again. The coffee beans used for Cafe' Karlo's excellent coffee are from a small family coffee roaster, Naber, in Vienna.

    1. Thank you! :-)
The red railing of this bridge leading over a small brook caught my attention immediately. Not to be missed, is it? ;-)

  9. It is rare to meet you in the countryside! You seem to me, to be rather urban, not?
I never saw this kind of pig, absolutely cracking!
    Beautiful week!

    1. Well, I live in the city, but close to the green hills of the edges of the Vienna Woods, so I get plenty of good air. I love to visit Burgenland, though, and go there whenever I find the time.

  10. NO BLOG TODAY?
It looks as if there's a problem with BLOGGER.
Would not let me publish a post. ;-)
    Cheers,
