It is Monday, and we might as well
Summer's still lingering in our mind,
and so is chocolate cake

Afternoon of a Swan
When on a late Nachsommer afternoon
the light changes and turns limpid,
and the evening's gold grows vaguely perceptible,
the faithful swan waits for her beloved by the shore

As the sun slips beyond
the mountain peaks,
the swan hears a call,
and sets out on her journey home

The joruney goes on,
first into the blue hour,
then beyond the lake
through the mountains,
on to the valley of the River Traun

where, on the right bank of the river,
we indulge in chocolate cake and coffee,
before we say adieu to late summer evening's light

  1. Where is Vienna in all this?
(I ask, before anyone else gets a chance.)
Well, only two and half hours away. You know, Viennese escapes, Merisi style. ;-)

A wonderful Monday to all of you,

  2. Vienna shmienna, we can forget about it for a day if we can feast our eyes on this beautiful blue landscape and drool over chocolate cake ;-).
....but do come back with flavours of Vienna soon :-).

    1. Remember, it was only yesterday you were walking in Klimt's footsteps! ;-)

  3. Such a beautiful place, lovely words, wonderful captures and chocolate cake to drool over -- a post doesn't get any better, Merisi!! Thanks for sharing!! Have a great week!

  4. Very nice poetry. I love the "blue hour."

  5. Beautiful! And I just wanted to let you know that your comment at about the swallows made me smile!

  6. Utterly heavenly!
    chocolate cake + a swan + a crystaline lake
    Serenity now.
    But where is Leda?

    1. Where is Leda? With Waldo, perchance?

  7. Thank you for your kind comments!
A wonderful day to you all,
