No, not the same old!
This time, I deliver:
Viennese Mélange for all!

Lemon Meringue Tartlette
with Red Currants

Pastry chef Pierre Reboul's
heavenly temptation

Viennese Mélange
with Lemon Meringue Tartlette

Viennese Mélange
as served at Café Central
on a silvery tray with a
spoon-topped glass of water
and red-foil-wrapped chocolate nougat

Somebody could not wait
any longer and dug in,
with a cake fork, that is!

I dedicate this blog post
to Stephanie Levy,
who recently visited Vienna

and discovered Pierre Reboul's
fabulous lemon tartlette, tempting me with these words:
"This little lemon tart was one of the most beautiful things I have ever eaten. Sweet, citrusy, creamy filling with a crunchy base. My taste buds were in heaven. I honestly felt emotional about this tart - it was that good. Viennese pastry chefs are true artisans."

Who am I to resist? ;-)

  1. Ummmm....yummmm....what more can I say?
I can feel the calories just looking at it.

  2. I couldn't resist either!

  3. I just finished my dinner and don't have any desert. This will do nicely. Thank you :-).

  4. I could NEVER resist your photo of that tarte!
    nor the down-turned spooner...

  5. Ah, to sit, to sip, to dig in and do it again the next time I come here. Great temptations, Merisi.

  6. Ah too many choices! Diglas, Central, Hawelka...I need a few more years to get around all these lovely places.
Um feel a real craving for Esterhazytorte.
Thanks for these wonderful posts Merisi. Yummy !

  7. Photowannabe:
Sue, they may have arrived at your doorsteps right now!

    thank you! :-)

    Charles Gramlich,
just the way we like it. ;-)

    love to share! :-)

I had lunch at Diglas today and no dessert.
It is 10PM now, and I regret not having chosen a dessert. ;-)

    Paris Breakfasts,

I have been away from Vienna for several weeks and I felt like a kid in a candy store upon returning. So many choices, so little time, isn't it?

  8. This tartelette looks great! My mouth is watering...

  9. Viennese Girl Vreni,
it tastes as great as it looks, hurry over there! ;-)

  10. Ah ha!!!
A tarte citron lurking underneath all that folderoll...

  11. And that tarte citron is tres delicious, Carol! ;-)

Thank you for taking the time to leave a note.
