Drinking Coffee Elsewhere
Venice Dreaming

San Marco
ready to emerge
from the morning mist

Scents of Coffee
the hissing of a steamed-up espresso maker,
the comforting noise
of a spoon laid on a saucer,
stimulating olfactory senses

and then the collective sigh
of Java addicts around San Marco,
savouring that first sip of black gold

  3. Martha,
    thank you!

    Elisabeth,
it was very early in the morning,
the sun had risen above the horizon, but the air was still misty.

  7. We had a good mist today. But no coffee so far. Just water and peanuts for me this morning.

  8. Merisi, with these photographs, you have made me enter a dream of a Venetian morning.

How I would love to visit that paper shop. I'm wondering if I did actually visit it when I actually was in Venice so long ago.

My memories have become a bit like dreams....

  9. Catching up on your posts -- so nice to be in Venice again! That facade of San Marco is one of my favorite memories of the city. And your capture of the sparrow -- outstanding!

  10. Thank you all for coming along on my dreams! ;-)

To the reader who wrote about the Bridge of Sigh:
This is an actual photo, no collage, no Photoshop layers (I'd know how to do them, but I would not possibly have the time to create collages for the blog).

The bridge image looks the way it does because it was surrounded by scaffolding that had been used as a billboard, creating the "sky" all around illusion.

A wonderful evening to all of you,
    Merisi

  11. Your pictures are really inviting...
    and make me dream too...
From my little corner though, I would swap Berlusconi with Kim Rossi, so that my dream is complete !!!

  20. I gotta say drinking coffee in Vienna looks WAY BETTER to me any day of the week then in Venice.

Where pray tell is the glass of water with spoon lurking over head?
