  9. That's one of the first Italian words I learnt - andiamo (and carciofole - how's my spelling??).
I like her red curly wig.
I wonder if red curly hair would suit me?
With my round face, I'd probably end up looking like Little Orphan Annie.

Carol, ever since I decided going to Venice in February would mean too much stress, I am reminded of La Serenissima in the most unexpected places, like rushing down Kohlmarkt. Should I see it as a sign? ;-)

    Photowannabe,
Sue, now that would be a dream, wouldn't it?

  13. ewix,
not so long ago was I standing at a closed train crossing, when the Orient Express was rolling through! I looked at the characteristic dark blue rail carriages, the brass and glass lamps of the dining car, the tied back curtains and all I could think was that I wished I had a camera with me: It was one of the very rare occasions I don't carry even my little one: I was walking back from the grocery store where not even Merisi needs a camera, or so I thought! I learned a lesson there. ;-)

  14. Pamela Terry and Edward,
I would accept any hair colour, as long as it would send me straight to Venice! ;-)

    Vicki Lane,
I have been to Venice in the deepest winter and the hottest summer and any weather in between and unless one insists on spending one's time between San Marco and the Rialto bridge, it is very easy to enjoy the city in splendid solitude. Being an early bird also helps. ;-)

  15. Theresa Cheek,
    I wholeheartedly agree! ;-)

    Sue,
    thank you! :-)

    Freefalling,
    carciofole sounds very Roman:
Is your mother in law from Rome or Latium?

    Arija,
    wished I were!
Outside my windows big feathery snowflakes are dancing down from the sky as I write. I dream of Venetian spring! ;-)
