Where Demel Meets Haydn

Crystal Chandelier
From the outside looking in at
Pâtisserie Demel's window display,
with the reflection of a window
of Michaelerhaus across the street.

Michaelerhaus is where the 18 year old Joseph Haydn
moved in 1750, to live there in an attic room
for more than five years.
The former choir boy and budding musician
had to work as valet back then,
to earn a meager living.

  3. Magnificent! I love the light and the reflections and the grace of this picture.

Now I can see that there is more to Demel's than marvelous coffee and pastry!

  11. Swooping filagree AND graceful arabesques of crystal drops...and because it's Demel's, one can fill one's eyes and exquisitely stuff a greedy tummy at the same time! It must be one of the most satisyingly beautiful places in the world.
