Postcards from Venice: Sailing into the Blue Hour

I walked with the Venetian group of
Scott Kelby's "Worldwide Photo Walk"
this past Saturday.
These are some of the images
I captured in the company
of very talented and skilled photographers.
Their skills -
not even talking about their equipment -
taught me humility,
but also inspired me
to work harder,
maybe even go back
to school!

Do you have any favorite among
these images?

Alright, here are some more
("La donna è mobile!"):
Click on them,
they'll grow on you!

And now,
Merisi's Favorites:

Venetian Dream
Venice in a nutshell:
Gondola, water,
reflections.

In Focus
or
Unawares
or
Accidental Subject
or
Stealing Beauty Twice
(One more decision to make:
Which caption???)

Thanks, G.,
for your colour-coordinated
outfit
! ;-)

Now,
which 2 of the 3?

  1. Hmmm I will choose only because you are asking.

The first and second photos are my favourites...

The restful reflection in the first and I don't know what it is in the 2nd with the clothes but I love it.

  3. SARAH LULU,
    thank you!

I think the colour of the fabric and the pattern of the skirt to the right make all the difference: They are reminiscent of the colours and patterns of the roof.

  4. Well, so long as you promise to assume that the choice of one favourite does not denigrate all the others, I award my Silver Salver to...

  8. Something very salient about the clothes hanging on the line between the buildings. Very 'human' perhaps.

  9. Yep, Venetian Dreams is my choice -- lovely composition.

And there's something about a clothesline in one of the world's most beautiful cities that I find irresistible!

  15. I think I like best the washing hung out to dry because it makes me wonder about the person/s who own those clothes!

  16. My favorites are the two clothesline photos and I will tell you why.
Because, to show such domestication in the midst of such..... architecture, it strikes the viewer with the realization that actual, real people, [like you, Merisi] LIVE, and go about their daily things, in a place that most of us can only dream about.

  17. Venetian Dream gets my vote - all the colours of Venice, as painted by the Old Masters, lie within it.

  23. Hard to choose. I like some more than others because I know exactly where you took them, like #7, near my best friend Paola's house, or the one with the clothes, behind the Scuola Grande di San Rocco. On the same exact window there used to be a beautiful construction with lots of miniature wind mills made of wood. It was a fascinating thing to stare at as a little girl. After the tenant died, the one who constructed it, they took it down, it was a sad day.

I would pick the one with the Gondola though, because it represents Venice, I can feel the gentle rocking of the water on the gondola. I wish I were there now.
