Une Invitation au Voyage

Mon enfant, ma soeur,
Songe à la douceur

Aimer à loisir,
Aimer et mourir

Au pays
qui te ressemble!

Les soleils mouillés
De ces ciels brouillés

Les miroirs profonds,
La splendeur orientale,

Tout y parlerait
À l'âme en secret
Sa douce langue natale.

  2. Beautiful photos as always. I know I don't comment on each post, and I tend to look at a few posts at once. I do enjoy each and every one of them. You're magic behind that camera.

Thanks for your visit to both my blogs. I came to see if there were any pictures of your little darling but could not find a category to fit. Still I'm sure your little dachshund is a true treasure to you.
    Happy weekend.

  12. Merisi - Thanks for taking me away! I do so enjoy the journey!

...and you were right, the "Wedding Cake" it is in that first photo. The second is a monastery not far from Siena (I wish I could remember the name...) A beautiful place where we went to sketch once when I was taking a painting workshop in the area.
What's your Italian connection? Most of my mother's family, though they were French, lived in Italy (Florence) for a good part of their lives. My great-grandfather was a professor in Florence and my grandmother met her Dutch husband there. She and her three sisters spoke the most delightful combination of French, Italian and English as adults...just blending them all together. I loved to listen to it!

  16. Oh Merisi,
I have learned this poem by heart 20 years ago and I can still recite it. Isn't it beautiful? But then you've made your own synapsis, which is so you!
I've just added a photo of yours truly on my sidebar, taken at the Oberlaa, and I immediately thought of you.
    Ah, sweet Vienna!
Happy New Year to you and yours! See you soon!
