Perching precariously
on my window sill,
soaking up the sun.

  2. What an opulent column...

    ...

    It has me thinking...

What does this remind me of?

It is reminiscent of the component slabs of a tottering, classic column in Carthage or Thebes.

Yet it is organic in form, rounded, curvilinear...

    A stylized column...

(Yet, it cannot be a stylite because, though the component neo-beutelchens are architectural, no ascetic would perch on these...)

    Of course, how obvious!
    You are based in Wiens...

Though you remind us of the classical, and even are neo-classical in composition, you are nonetheless acting as a bridge to modernity...

And what would that define, if not Vienna's Jugendstil? So this must be neo-Art Nouveau!

    ...

(Merisi, I very much enjoy your posts. Thank you for adding a burst of Viennese style and flavour into everyone's day, certainly into mine.)

has the package arrived yet? ;-)

    SEPIRU CHRIS,
Neo-Art Nouveau, brilliant! :-) Solves the dilemma of being pre-postmodern or nor. ;-)
Thank you very much for your kind words.

    BARBARA MARTIN,
I have four kids, imagine me even thinking about having these treats all by myself. *giggle*

    DAVID MCMAHON,
I am sure we could come up with a satisfying solution! :-)

Would you mind describing the flavour sensation you experience while biting into one of these Builder's (?) bricks, er, crisps? ;-)

    STEPHANIE LEVY:
Saturday I noticed a new variety of Faschingskrapfen, at my corner bakery: Rauchfangkehrerkrapfen! Chimney Sweep's Donut, imagine that. *giggle* They were black with poppy seeds on top. I have to enquire about the filling! Soot?

    Mélanie,

    "Are they hard to make?"

Oh, Mélanie, that is a tricky question. I'd say it depends on whom you ask. To some people it is as easy as pie (yup, pie - there the trouble starrts, for me). If you ask me, my answer is still, it depends. I could write a novella about the years of practicing it took to perfect the recipe and the method, dozens of recipes tried, lots of cooking down the to hazardous waste site. Tears, of frustration and of joy. Better not ask. Or let's rephrase: Does it seem easy to me now, after spending half my adult life learning to make them? Yes! :-)

Please don't ask me about "easy as pie"! ;-)

  16. Crisps...there are some strange new flavours on sale at the moment, so I have tried. Onion Bhaji,,,Ok, spicy. Fish and Chips crisps...not too bad, vinegar and fish batter. Cajun Squirrel...rather like cardboard, and the Builders Breakfast is supposed to be like egg,bacon,sausage...and is just bizarre. I certainly prefer salami and a good bread.

To be honest, if I had the energy to run a photo-blog like you Merisi,I do not think the English breakfast would make a scrumptious picture.

  17. Now I'm salivating. At least I have a cup of fresh-brewed dark roast coffee to take some comfort in. Otherwise, I would have to make a bakery run.

Thank you for visiting me this morning. And congratulations on your POTD acknowledgment. Richly deserved.
