  1. I am guessing that those are real fur coats? It does look cold...

  2. Hi Merisi....you never fail to please with your photos of Vienna!

I have an acquaintance who is moving to Vienna next week...giving up the Southern California lifestyle for something better. I will be looking for her in your photos now....and I gave her your link...she'll be looking for a woman with a camera!

  4. I made my first concession to cold weather yesterday. I wore a long sleeved shirt.

  5. Wow, that's a whole lot of fur...kind of suprising to see with all the PETA action we have in the states.
What a lovely blog you have!

  6. I know winters are very cold in Vienna...but are fur coats as popular there as your photos on this post suggest?

  7. Where are all those luxuriously bundled up ladies going? Must they go there?

It also way below freezing here in NYC, and most folks who do not need to venture outdoor are staying warm inside their apartments.

Tough, but understandable for those of us who manage shops!

Your 2009 posts continue to dazzle.

  8. When the weather is frigid, the best coat is a fur one, preferably long.

  9. Your photos reminded me of April 2002 and my first trip to Austria. There was a cold snap and it was drizzling. We decided to spend the day walking through Bad Ischl. We stopped for a coffee and treat at Konditorei-Kaffee Zauner Gesellschaft mbH & Co KG because it had been recommnded in a guide book. The coffee and treat were delicious, but what has stayed with me was this group of "mature" ladies, dressed to the nines in their furs and gloves. Although I could not understand German, it was obvious these ladies gathered regularly. They were so poised and elegant that I openly stared as the bundled in their furs, linked arms, and waltzed out into the rain. I swore that someday I would be an elegant "mature" lady. Thank you for reminding me of such a lovely moment.
